Locus Architecture's Redesign of 1920's 2nd floor in SW Minneapolis
Project: Redesign existing 2nd floor for efficiency, to match family needs and to have a little fun with the space.
Project Features: Highly efficient heating and insulation systems reduce monthly costs while creating a more comfortable environment. 3 Form panels in various applications. Playful elements include a concealed doorway, rolling closet and pivoting wall section
Sustainable/Green Components: 100 year metal roof; geo-thermal heat pump; ultra-insulation comprised of soy based spray foam, recycled cotton and cellulose; FSC framing lumber; many elements salvaged, refinished or reused; any new trim was locally harvested FSC birch; all paints and stains were no VOC; 3 solar tubes for day lighting; replaced all windows; 65% of construction waste recycled.
